BEST BEHAVIOUR ... Joey Barton
NEIL WARNOCK says he trusts Joey Barton not to do anything stupid tonight.
Warnock has banned the midfielder from tweeting until AFTER his debut against old club Newcastle at Loftus Road.
But Rangers manager Warnock said: "No doubt we will speak, as I would do with anyone playing against his old club.
"But Joey is just Joey. You get what you see with him and I don't expect anything different.
"Joey probably gets fired up for every game, but what am I going to tell him? Don't upset anybody?
"If he runs out on the pitch and thumps someone I will probably say 'Yes he was probably a little too fired up!'
"But you just have to trust people."
Barton has had a reputation for trouble on and off the pitch.
But Warnock reckons the London lifestyle will help the Scouser as he works on cleaning up his act.
The Rangers chief said: "It is difficult in the North East. You can't go for a coffee, everyone wants your autograph.
"I thought with Joey's situation, London would be best for him. He's very articulate with his tweets.
"I know he likes museums and oil paintings. I thought London would tempt him and his wife.
"Everybody talks about Joey's baggage but if he didn't have that I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to sign him."
Barton's tweets landed him in trouble with Newcastle's bigwigs.
And Warnock has ordered the star to stay off the social networking website until the game is over.
Barton tweeted yesterday: "Lovely day down here today, training down, had a rub, now off home to watch the football and load NRG. Twitter curfew begins till after game."
