Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid is the best club in the world and many others envy us

Cristiano Ronaldo believes that Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, and that other sides are jealous of them.

The Santiago Bernabeu outfit has had to play second fiddle to bitter rivals Barcelona over the last three seasons in La Liga, but despite this, the former Manchester United attacker feels he is playing for the planet's number one team.

"Real Madrid are the best club in the world and [there is] a lot of envy," he told UEFA in an interview.

Jose Mourinho's side started its 2011-12 campaign with a 6-0 away win over Real Zaragoza, with the 26-year-old netting a hat-trick, and he feels that it could be a successful season in the Spanish capital city.

"I think this will be a great year for us," he continued.

Madrid also lost out to its Catalan foes in the Champions League last term, and the Portugal international is still hurting following the controversial semifinal clash in which the Bernabeu side believed themselves to be on the rough end of a number of refereeing decisions.

"Whatever happened last year, we know what it was. We were unjustly eliminated [from the competition], but we must learn to live with it," he concluded.
