Claude Le Roy has signed on for a second stint as Congo’s national coach, following the resignation of French compatriot Robert Nouzaret earlier this week.

The Congolese Minister of Sports, Claude Nyamugabo, welcomed the return to Kinshasa late Thursday of Le Roy, who had previously coached the team from 2004-2006.

Nyamugabo says the government is “committed to support you in your important mission to qualify our country for various international competitions.”

Le Roy, who has signed a contract until 2014, says it is “a great pleasure for me to return” and says his aim is for the team to reach the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Le Roy’s side faces a difficult 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Senegal on Saturday.
