Barcelona expects to net ?21 million in 2011-12

BARCELONA, Spain (AP)—European and Spanish champion Barcelona expects to net nearly ?21 million ($30 million) in the coming season.
Club spokesman Toni Freixa says the club expects to gross ?461.1 million over the 2011-12 season against expenditures of about ?430.2 million, leaving Barcelona a net of ?20.9 million.
Barcelona members still have to approve the budget figures at a meeting on Sept. 24.
Barcelona trails just Spanish rival Real Madrid as football’s biggest moneymaker ahead of Manchester United, according to Deloitte.
Barcelona recently won the Spanish Supercup against Madrid for its 12th major trophy in just over three seasons. The three-time defending Spanish champion started the season with a 5-0 win over Villarreal.
