Robin van Persie feels humbled by 8-2 thrashing

ROBIN VAN PERSIE says there is no excuse for Arsenal's 8-2 thrashing — but bizarrely claimed they gave it their best shot.
The Gunners — who were missing eight first-team players — were soundly beaten at Old Trafford by Manchester United on Sunday.
But Van Persie said: "This was the strongest team we had. We gave our maximum and it was not enough.
"We can't hide behind injuries or suspensions. It's not an excuse."
Now Van Persie has tempted fate by suggesting Arsenal's next opponents will be easy.
He said: "We've got Swansea at home in two weeks, which is a good opponent. I look forward to that."
