AC Milan's French midfielder Mathieu Flamini will be out of action for the next five months because of a knee injury, the Italian Serie A side announced on Friday.
The 27-year-old former Marseille and Arsenal player ruptured ligaments in his right knee in last Sunday's Berlusconi Trophy win against Juventus.
Flamini, who was an important member of the side that won the championship last season, will undergo an operation which will keep him on the sidelines until the new year.
