DARREN FLETCHER is plotting a shock comeback for Manchester United’s crunch clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford next week.
Darren Fletcher has been recovering from a serious virus that forced him to miss the last few months of last season and United's summer tour of America.
However, the Scotland captain completed 90 minutes of a reserve game at Arsenal on Monday night and is set to step up his training with Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad.
The midfielder will not feature against Tottenham next Monday night but has an outside chance of being involved in Fergie’s squad for the visit of the Gunners a week on Sunday.
His imminent return to the fold will be a major boost for Fergie, who is already without injured defenders Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Rafael.
