Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is considering a shock bid for Celtic winger Paddy McCourt.
The Northern Irish international hit the headlines last week with a stunning goal in his country’s 4-0 defeat of the Faroe Islands.
It was one of two strikes that has alerted scouts across Europe. Liverpool had been quietly monitoring the 27-year-old and their interest has been flushed out by the attention McCourt is getting from other clubs.
McCourt joined Celtic in 2008 but has struggled to hold down a starting spot.
He boasts plenty talent but his lack of consistency has held him back throughout his career. Dalglish is aware of the damage he can do to rival defences and is keen on adding flair to his Reds squad.
McCourt would be an unlikely starter with the club viewing him as capable of coming on and changing games off the bench.
