Dunga pursuing English club QPR over loan

LONDON (AP)—Former Brazil coach Dunga is threatening to sue Queens Park Rangers to recover a loan he claims he gave to the Premier League club.
In a statement issued through London lawyers, Dunga said QPR owes him 750,000 ($1.2 million) after he helped the club in 2006.
“I loaned my money to QPR in good faith when they needed it and am very disappointed that the new owners, who are very wealthy, are now refusing to pay it back,” Dunga said. “I am fully confident in the English system of justice and that the court will help me recover my loans.”
QPR said Sunday it would not comment on the matter.
The west London club has been owned since 2007 by Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, the wealthiest person in Britain, while Former Renault F1 chief Flavio Briatore was also part of the ownership group until last year.
“I am waiting to hear back from QPR’s lawyers as to whether the loan will re repaid without the need for court action,” Dunga’s lawyer Steven Heffer said.
