A missed penalty from Partick's Kris Doolan proved crucial as they lost 2-1 at Falkirk.

The home side took the lead after eight minutes through Farid El Alagui, who collected Stewart Murdoch's pass to slot home from close range.

But Doolan equalised for Partick 10 minutes before the break with an unstoppable 25-yard strike into the bottom corner.

Falkirk restored their lead five minutes after the restart when Thomas Scobbie's cross was powerfully headed home by Kallum Higginbotham.

Partick should have equalised from the spot when Michael McGovern fouled Thomas Stewart, but Doolan skewed his wide.

The away side came agonisingly close three minutes later, but Aaron Sinclair's header hit the bar and Falkirk managed to hold on.
