Blackpool back to winning ways

Blackpool, relegated from the Premier League last season, marked their return to the second-tier Championship with a 1-0 win away to Hull on Friday, the opening day of the new English season.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who this time last season scored Blackpool's first Premier League goal as they started with a 4-0 win away to Wigan, netted nine minutes from time to secure victory.

Hull's Tom Cairney and veteran striker Kevin Phillips on his Blackpool debut both shot against the post in the first half, while the hosts were made to pay for a succession of missed chances after the break.

But Blackpool, relegated on the final day of last season, won the match thanks to Taylor-Fletcher's angled 81st minute shot.
