After being linked with Manchester United in Sunday’s newspapers, Newcastle United star Joey Barton has revealed that he doesn’t want to leave the club.
The Sunday Times had claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson was interested in signing the tenacious midfielder who had an excellent season at St James’ Park last season.
But he told social networking website Twitter that he had unfinished business with Newcastle and it was likely he would only leave the club at the end of his contract next summer.
Joey Barton said: “Nice to be linked with some big clubs today but I honestly don't want to leave Newcastle. Thanks but no thanks. #unfinishedbusinesshere”
Before adding: “I will most likely leave Newcastle at end of season, when my contract expires and I am no longer employed.
