South Korea's Ji Dong-won joins Sunderland

SUNDERLAND, England (AP)—Ji Dong-won became the eighth South Korean to move to the Premier League after completing his transfer from Chunnam Dragons to Sunderland on Thursday.
The 20-year-old Ji, who has scored six goals in 11 games for his country, signed a three-year deal with the northeast side. The transfer fee wasn’t disclosed.
Sunderland dubbed Ji “one of Asia’s hottest properties” following his exploits at the 2011 Asian Cup, where he scored four goals before South Korea was eliminated in the semifinals.
Ji scored 16 goals in 44 appearances for the Gwangyang-based Dragons.
Sunderland also signed attacking midfielder Craig Gardner from Birmingham for an undisclosed fee on Thursday, following the acquisition of England under-21 striker Connor Wickham for an initial 8 million pounds ($12.8 million) on Wednesday.
