ASTON VILLA plan to hijack Liverpool's move for Charlie Adam.
Alex McLeish will be unveiled as Villa's new boss today after his shock Second City move from Birmingham.
McLeish wanted Adam at City last January and will make a £9million bid for the Blackpool midfielder, who saw moves to Liverpool and Spurs collapse six months ago.
Adam, 25, is well known to the Scot as McLeish gave him his Rangers debut in 2004 - then later handed him his first Scotland cap.
McLeish has £40m to spend this summer and has earmarked £10m for Birmingham keeper Ben Foster.
