Kanoute has spent six seasons at the Sanchez Pizjuan and scored over 100 goals in a highly successful spell, which has seen the club win two UEFA Cups, two Copa del Rey titles, a Supercopa and a European Super Cup.
The 33-year-old has recently been linked with moves to Qatar and the MLS, but his new coach has revealed he would like to keep the striker.
"I would love to have him here, but it's his decision," Marcelino told Marca in an interview. "This season, his participation was decisive, but he will decide."
Meanwhile, Marcelino believes Sevilla can challenge for titles next season.
"The recent trajectory of Sevilla tells you that is possible," he said. "Two Copas del Rey, two Uefa Cups, a Spanish Supercopa, another European one; this team is not inferior to Valencia, Villarreal or Atletico Madrid."
