I have a say

New York Red Bulls star Thierry Henry wants former France and Arsenal teammate Robert Pires to join him in Major League Soccer.

Pires says “he called me up and said ‘Come over and play with me,’ but there are no real offers yet.”

Pires told regional newspaper the Birmingham Mail that Villa has not spoken to him about renewing his short-term contract when it expires at the end of the Premier League season.

The 37-year-old midfielder was a free agent when he joined Villa in October following the expiration of his contract with Spain’s Villarreal.

Pires has started only four matches but wants to talk to Gerard Houllier before deciding his future. The Villa manager has been absent since April 20 because of a heart problem.
