LONDON (AP)—The Football Association is investigating the details of Gael Givet’s 2009 transfer to Blackburn following allegations of irregularities.
The France defender joined the English Premier League club from Marseille for 3.5 million pounds ($5.7 million) but has told The Sun newspaper that he was forced to give 50,000 pounds ($81,340) to an unlicensed agent to facilitate the move.
FA rules prohibit the payment of unlicensed third parties.
Givet told The Sun that “I just thought he was working for Blackburn. But after I’d signed he started demanding money.”
