Valencia guaranteed themselves third spot in the Primera Division despite being held to a goalless draw by a Levante side who had played with 10 men from the 22nd minute.
Xisco Nadal was shown a straight red card after scything down Valencia forward Roberto Soldado, but Los Che could not make the most of their numerical advantage as this city derby finished goalless.
Nevertheless, the point ensured Valencia would finish in third place for the second successive season irrespective of how fourth-placed Villarreal got on in their game with Real Madrid, which Jose Mourinho's men ultimately won 3-1.
The result at the Mestalla was also good news for Levante as they are now safe from the drop.
Levante looked the more dangerous early on but they suffered a huge setback midway through the first half when Nadal was handed his marching orders for a late challenge on Soldado inside his own half as the Valencia forward looked to break away down the right.
Valencia took a while to make any headway against the 10 men of Levante, but they finally threatened in the 34th minute when Ricardo Costa's header was saved by Gustavo Munua.
Jonas Oliveira then fired over following a cut-back from Soldado before Levante almost stunned their hosts on the stroke of half-time when Felipe Caicedo's snapshot from seven yards out struck the outside of the post.
Valencia had the better chances in the second half and Jonas, Jorda Alba and Angel Dealbert were all denied by Munua.
The home side then almost snatched a late winner when Juan Mata fired in a shot at the far post, but his effort came back off the woodwork and both clubs were left to celebrate their respective successes.
