Carlo Ancelotti urges Chelsea to avoid breaking up the playing squad this summer

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has urged the club’s hierarchy not to make major changes to the playing squad during the summer.
The Blues, who face Newcastle United on Sunday, are on course to finish second in the Premier League this season, failing to win a trophy after last season’s Double success.
Ancelotti knows that game could be his last at Stamford Bridge, with a final decision on his future at the club not expected until the end of the campaign.
The Italian insists only minor changes are required to reverse the fortunes of the club and says the foundations are already in place for Chelsea to succeed again.
"When a team reaches second place, you have to stay quiet, calm and objective," said Ancelotti.
"Some things were wrong, but some parts in this season were also good or we wouldn’t be second.
"It would be dangerous to tear it up just because we didn't win [a trophy] this season. To change a lot of players would be dangerous.
"The squad is really good. We had two new players in January who, next season, will be better. So, to judge our season, you have to stay quiet and calm.
"Manchester United were the same last season - they didn't reach their target last season and finished second.
"They were calm, quiet, bought the right players - Javier Hernandez has had a fantastic season and this year, they won. This is a good thing, to manage the defeats."
Ancelotti re-iterated his preference would be to stay with Chelsea, insisting he loves the Premier League and the English game as a whole.
"My desire is to stay here, but, if it's not possible, I have to find another thing,” he added.
"I would like to manage. I'm not tired of this and I don't need to have a rest. I want to work next season.
"My first desire is to train here at this club. The second choice is another [Premier League] place.
“I love the atmosphere here, the atmosphere of football. I think everyone respects your job.
"There is no violence, the stadiums are full. That's the reason I want to stay here."
