Silva: Cesc would be Fab at City

DAVID SILVA says it would be a dream to link up with Cesc Fabregas at Manchester City.

SunSport revealed this week that City boss Roberto Mancini sees the Arsenal star as the one buy who could deliver the title to Eastlands.

And yesterday we told you that Mancini will use wideman Silva to entice his friend in a £40million move from the Emirates. It is a mission Silva would love to complete.

Spaniard Silva, 25, said: "If only he could come, it would be great, marvellous. We know what he's achieved as a player and he has a lot of experience of playing in England.

"He likes to keep the ball and that's how we like to play. He treats the ball as his friend and I get on with him well. I know him from the national side, so it would be great."

Mancini is determined to add four more quality players to his squad this summer for a title assault and Champions League campaign.

The man the club would certainly like to keep as the driving force towards that goal is their captain Carlos Tevez, although his future hangs in the balance.

Silva said: "Carlos is a vital player for us. He's the real key player for Manchester City. He's great to play alongside and I feel at ease with him, very comfortable. He makes things easy.

"He's a real character, not just as a player but he's a top guy and it's very important he stays."

Mancini has a big decision to make as to whether to start Tevez in today's FA Cup final against Stoke after he recently returned to fitness from a hamstring injury.

Silva, a European Championship and World Cup winner, says it is as big an occasion as he has had in his career.

He said: "It would be just as meaningful for me in the sense that it's been a good while since City won a trophy or even got into a final, so I know how important it is for the people who follow this club.

"Because I've had such a good time here and been treated so well by the fans, it's important I can give something to them. Give them a victory."

Mancini believes the first step towards a successful 2011-12 campaign comes with this final as City aim to end a 35-year wait for silverware.

And Silva said: "We've got to a final and reached the top four, the Champions League, so this is the plan we need to be following in the next few years.

"That same upward curve. We aim to be fighting for trophies on all fronts."

Yet Silva admits that, contrary to the image of overseas players growing up enthralled by the FA Cup every year, he really did not pay it any attention when he was in Spain.

He said: "I didn't see it, to be honest. I don't even know if it's on live television back home.

"But when you spend a lot of time in football you maybe don't watch the games all the time. I watched some Premier League but not the FA Cup final."
