Ex-Leeds star Schofield, 45, said: "Leaf should be banned for life - as simple as that. What an absolute idiot.
"He's brought the game into disrepute. I would say 1,000 per cent that games in rugby league are not fixed.
"He says he doesn't get recognised in Hull. Well, I've never heard of him - but he has done the image of the game no good whatsoever.
"He needs the book throwing at him. Ban him for life and make him give whatever he won to charity."
France coach and former St Helens hero Bobbie Goulding blasted: "He's a teacher? Well, it just goes to prove that not all teachers are clever. I've heard of people betting on other teams but never their own."
Former Great Britain and Wigan great Andy Gregory, who won the Challenge Cup seven times, said: "Rugby League, especially at the lower levels, is dependent on a hardcore of supporters.
