Peterhead 0 : 3 Stenhousemuir - Play-off joy for Stenny
Posted Saturday, May 07, 2011 by PA
Stenhousemuir beat already-relegated Peterhead 3-0 to dodge the relegation play-offs.
The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession but had struggled to carve out chances in a cagey first half before they eventually broke the deadlock.
Stephen Murray's glorious long ball in the 41st minute found Grant Anderson racing clear and the forward tucked it away.
Peterhead's Callum MacDonald presented the visitors with a chance to further their lead when he fouled Scott Dalziel on the edge of the box and Eric Paton stepped up to fire the free-kick beyond John Bateman in the 68th minute.
Stenhousemuir's domination was further underlined when they added a third. Dalziel headed home in the 75th minute from Paul Quinn`s cross from the right.
