Getafe vs Almeria preview - Colunga issues rallying call

Getafe striker Adrian Colunga has issued a rallying call to his side's supporters ahead of the potentially vital clash with bottom club Almeria as they look to escape the relegation zone.

Getafe, who finished sixth last season, dropped into the bottom three for the first time this campaign after losing 2-1 at Villarreal last weekend, and they are now a point behind Deportivo La Coruna and safety.

Michel's men have had a miserable 2011, winning just two of their 18 league matches and losing 11 - five of which have come in their last six games - but they could give their hopes of survival a huge lift with a victory over Almeria.

To try and ensure that happens, Colunga wants the fans to play their part, saying: "We hope they support us, that they are with us, and not only during the game. Hopefully they will come two hours before, create a nice atmosphere to play in, not a party atmosphere, because we're playing for our lives, but one in which we find ourselves all united.

"Almeria need to see we are playing for our lives, that they are going to find a hostile atmosphere, like we experienced in Gijon. We want to see the stadium full."

Colunga believes that two more wins should be enough to keep Getafe up, with their final three games of the season after this weekend coming against Real Madrid, Osasuna and Real Sociedad.

"We need to pick up six points and with them our survival could be mathematically certain. Now the first match is against Almeria, a final. We have to win, simple as that, and it doesn't matter if we do it playing well or badly. The situation requires a victory," he said.

While Getafe still have survival in sight, Almeria looked doomed to the drop.

Last weekend's 1-0 home defeat to Sevilla left them 12 points adrift of 17th-placed Deportivo La Coruna and 16th-placed Osasuna with only four games left, so they need to win all of their remaining matches and hope those teams lose all of theirs.

For a side that has only won five times all season and has lost their last six successive matches that looks an unlikely prospect, while Almeria's final three games pit them against Villarreal, Real Mallorca and Real Madrid.
