Andy Rodgers' brace helped promotion candidates Ayr come from behind to beat Airdrie 3-1 at Somerset Park ending their opponents play-off hopes.

Airdrie dominated the first half and came close after 33 minutes when Graeme Owens' 25-yarder hit a post.

The Diamonds finally went in front seven minutes into the second period Scott Morton heading home from inside the penalty area.

But their advantage only lasted a minute as Rodgers found the bottom corner from 30 yards out.

Rodgers then gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot on the hour-mark after Kieran Stallard's foul on Ross Robertson.

Michael Moffat then made it 3-1 five minutes later with a close-range finish after David Crawford's shot had hit the upright.
