Lecce salvaged a point in their Serie A survival scrap with a dramatic injury-time equaliser from Daniele Corvia securing a 3-3 draw with Cagliari.

The southerners had trailed 1-0 and then 3-1 and seemed headed for a disappointing home defeat as they bid to avoid the drop to Serie B.

However, Medina Fabiano pulled one back with a header three minutes from time before Corvia smashed in the equaliser after four minutes of added time.

Cagliari had an early chance in the eighth minute when Andrea Cossu crossed from the left for Daniele Conti to half-volley which Lecce goalkeeper Antonio Rosati did well to save.

Rosati was in action again three minutes later as Alessandro Agostini had a bash from 20 yards.

Former Cagliari striker Jeda headed one close from a corner at the other end and seconds later Medina Fabiano had an even better opportunity but he also failed to head on target.

Cagliari then took the lead in the 20th minute as Andrea Lazzari fed Robert Acquafresca with the striker volleying home in style.

After 36 minutes Cossu's counter-attack culminated in a weak shot which Rosati saved easily while at the other end, David Di Michele's cross-shot from the right was saved well by a stretched Michael Agazzi.

But it was Rosati in action again two minutes before the break as saved superbly from Cossu after the forward's fantastic shot.

Lecce began the second half brightly and restored parity four minutes in.

The lively Di Michele was involved as he crossed for Djamel Mesbah and the defender slammed home from close range.

Jeda headed just over in the 52nd minute and Mesbah fired high and wide from distance.

Conti restored the islanders' lead after 67 minutes though as he rose to head home Cossu's corner from close range.

It was 3-1 five minutes later as Acquafresca finished off a fine counter spearheaded by Davide Biondini.

Agazzi in the Cagliari goal was in fine fettle with saves from Gustavo's header and Ruben Olivera's powerful drilled shot.

Biondini went close again before three minutes from time Lecce narrowed the gap as Medina Fabiano headed home in space from a corner.

Cagliari were edgy now and their capitulation was complete four minutes into added time when Lecce scored an incredible leveller, Corvia lashing the ball into the net to spark wild scenes of jubilant celebration among the home fans.
