Sporting Gijon will look to build on their victory against Real Madrid and take another step closer to safety when they face Osasuna - with midfielder Alberto Rivera warning the hard work is not over yet.

Madrid had won 25 successive home matches heading into last weekend's clash at the Bernabeu while Whites boss Jose Mourinho had not suffered a home league defeat as a coach in over nine years.

However, both those records were shattered as Sporting claimed a 1-0 victory thanks to a late Miguel De Las Cuevas goal.

That stunning result put a huge dent in Madrid's title hopes, while at the other end of the table it helped relegation-battling Sporting - who have now won three of their last four matches - climb up to 13th, six points above the drop zone.

Rivera is refusing to get carried away with their Bernabeu upset though, saying: "That victory allowed us to improve our position and now we are in a much better situation than three months ago, but we haven't achieved our objective.

"If anyone thinks that by beating Real Madrid it's all done and dusted, they are very much mistaken.

"We are in a good moment but we know that we are facing a difficult opponent (Osasuna), so we cannot relax."

Like Sporting, Osasuna have also taken great strides towards safety in recent weeks following the arrival of Jose Luis Mendilibar as coach.

In his first six matches Mendilibar led Osasuna to four victories, and although they were beaten 3-2 at home by Atletico Madrid last weekend, the Pamplona-based side are now also six points clear of the relegation zone along with Sporting.

Osasuna striker Kike Sola, who has scored in each of the last three matches, said of tomorrow's game: "We`re facing an opponent who are in the same fight, so it's going to be a hard-fought game. We have to go out with the same desire and the same hopes.

"I don't like to think about whether we need six points, or four, or three (to stay up), we need to win on Sunday."
