Cowdenbeath boosted their chances of escaping relegation by beating fellow strugglers Ross County 2-1 at Central Park.

The home side took the lead after six minutes with Mark Ramsay firing home from 20 yards.

They doubled their advantage after 21 minutes, Jon Robertson feeding Scott Linton who made no mistake from 12 yards.

County almost pulled one back eight minutes before half-time but Stuart Kettlewell shot over from close range.

Michael Gardyne and Iain Vigurs came close in the second half for the away side before they finally got on the scoresheet, Richard Brittain scoring an 87th minute penalty following Craig Winter`s foul on Mark Corcoran.

They almost levelled in stoppage time but Scott Boyd headed wide from six yards.
