Cowdenbeath 0 : 2 Greenock Morton - Beath's woes deepen
Posted Tuesday, March 22, 2011 by PA
Cowdenbeath remain deep in relegation trouble after they were beaten 2-0 by Morton at Central Park.
The visitors took an early lead when Carli Monti stroked home a second-minute penalty following Mark Baxter's handball.
Beath's only real chance of the first half came just two minutes after they had fell behind when Craig Winter met Scott Linton's corner six yards out but his header fell wide.
Winter had another opportunity seven minutes after half-time. His header hit the target this time but home goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert did well to tip it over.
The Ton made the most of that lifeline and sealed the win on the hour mark when Allan Jenkins found the bottom corner from 20 yards.
