Levante vs Mallorca preview - Garcia urging caution

Levante coach Luis Garcia has warned his side not to rest on their laurels as they look to continue their impressive climb up the Primera Division with victory over Real Mallorca.

The Valencia-based outfit looked destined for an immediate return to the Segunda Division as they propped up the top-flight standings following a 4-1 loss to Sevilla in January.

However, since that loss, Levante have rattled off five wins in seven games with their only defeat being a 2-0 reverse against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Last weekend Levante beat fifth-placed Espanyol to climb up to 12th spot, five points above the relegation zone and Primera Division safety will soon be within their sights if they can continue that form.

Garcia is taking nothing for granted though, saying: "Anyone who thinks we are safe is wrong. There's still much to do.

"We can go back to having a bad run. We have to give it everything. We would be committing a huge error if we think that it's all done and dusted."

Garcia does admit, however, a victory over 10th-placed Mallorca tomorrow would be another big step in the right direction.

"If we win we could increase the difference to those below us and cut the gap to Mallorca," said Garcia, whose side have won five of their last six home games, including a Copa del Rey triumph over Madrid.

"Someone will beat us at home but I hope it isn't Mallorca. We must all continue together, be united and get the three points, which will be three less to safety."

Mallorca also beat high-flying Espanyol last week, but the islanders were unable to follow it up with another victory as they went down 2-1 to Valencia on Saturday - their third defeat in four games.

Mallorca are now just three points ahead of Levante, and defender Ivan Ramis believes a draw tomorrow could be a good result.

"A point at Levante could be very important," he said.
