Simon Donnelly misses out for Partick against Queen of the South through injury, while defender Willie Kinniburgh is suspended.

Paul Cairney and Chris Erskine both face late fitness tests before their involvement can be confirmed.

The Glasgow side are out to end a run of six games without a win, but it looks like they will have to beat their pitch and their opponents.

Assistant manager Ian Maxwell explained: "I played for St Mirren against Gretna in the season they were ground-sharing with Motherwell in the SPL and that was really bad and unfortunately ours is the same.

"Despite the way the pitch is, we created chances against Dundee at the weekend and will look to do the same against Queen of the South."

Queen of the South boss Kenny Brannigan welcomes Stephen McKenna back into his side for the trip after suspension.

However, they are once again without the midfield duo of Paul Burns and Rocco Quinn.

McKenna was greeted with open arms, with Brannigan saying: "It is a huge boost to have Stephen back as he gives me options in my formation and I need to change things about to freshen things up and having Stephen available allows me to do just that."

Brannigan added: "The squad have put in a great shift but we need a win to get going again.

"By the sounds of things this could be a war of attrition on a heavy pitch and hopefully the players can dig deep and get us through it."
