Brechin lost further ground on Division Two leaders Livingston after being held to a 3-3 draw by Dumbarton at Glebe Park.
Kevin Bryers twice put the home side in front but Dumbarton pulled things level within two minutes on both occasions, thanks to goals from Jon McShane and Patrick Walker.
Rory McAllister looked to have earned the hosts all three points when he raced onto Andrew Cook's long ball out of defence before smashing the it into the top corner from 20 yards, but McShane secured his side a point in the 85th minute with a fierce effort from the edge of the 18-yard box.
The Hedgemen are now 13 points behind Livi, although they have two games in hand.
