Cowdenbeath defender Kenny Adamson is expected to miss the clash with Queen of the South after he was forced off against Falkirk.

He will join the long-term injured pair of Danny MacKay and Dene Droudge on the sidelines.

Boss Jimmy Nicholl was heartened by his side's showing in the 2-0 defeat against the Bairns on Saturday and is looking for them to take that into the clash with Queens and secure their first league win in 10 games.

Nicholl said: "It is always disappointing to be beaten. However, we put in a good performance against Falkirk, especially in defence.

"We have something to build on now, as everyone will take confidence from that game.

"We will look to improve our record against Queen of the South that has seen us ship six goals to them in two games so far this season."

Queen of the South boss Kenny Brannigan is keeping his fingers crossed that Allan Johnston and Daniel Carmichael will be available for the trip.

Both players face lunchtime fitness tests, and with Rocco Quinn and Paul Burns ruled out through injury and Steven McKenna banned, Brannigan has only eight first-team squad members available to him if Johnston and Carmichael do not make it.

Brannigan said: "It is getting beyond the bare bones here and no disrespect to the youth players but they are not ready for first-team football.

"We could have two untested kids in our starting XI and four on the bench, so it will be a tough shift at Central Park."

The Dumfries boss added: "We want to mount a serious challenge for promotion but it is getting harder due to our squad."
