Cowdenbeath missed out on the chance to move away from the First Division relegation zone as they were beaten 2-0 at Falkirk.
Pedro Moutinho could have put Falkirk in front in the eighth minute but defender Joseph Mbu did well to block his effort from six yards.
The home side took the lead in the 20th minute when Stewart Murdoch fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area after collecting a pass from Burton O'Brien.
Ryan Flynn doubled his side's advantage in the 55th minute with a fierce drive from just inside the box.
Kieran Duffie and Carl Finnigan had further chances to add to the scoreline but failed to find the target with good chances.
