Airdrie secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Forfar at New Broomfield, condemning their opponents to a first defeat in five league games.
Despite a bright start from the home side, in which Ryan McCord had a long-range effort tipped over the bar by Scott Gallagher, both goals came in the second half.
Ryan Donnelly made the breakthrough in the 49th minute when he converted Phillip Johnston's right-wing cross from close range.
Ross Campbell should have equalised for Forfar in the 67th minute but his effort from just six yards out flew wide of the post.
Scott Gemmill's 70th-minute header wrapped up the points.
