Levante vs Getafe preview - Ustari: A long way to go
Posted Saturday, January 29, 2011 by PA
Getafe goalkeeper Oscar Ustari is preaching calm ahead of the trip to rock-bottom Levante despite his side's poor form since the turn of the year.
Getafe ended 2010 in superb fashion, with six wins and two draws in their final eight games, but 2011 has not been so good to Michel's men with four defeats and a draw from their five games - with all four of those losses coming at home, conceding 13 goals in the process.
That dismal run has not only seen Getafe dumped out of the Copa del Rey by second division Real Betis, but they have also dropped down to 10th place in La Liga, five points behind sixth-placed Atletico Madrid and the final European places.
Ustari insists there is no need to press the panic button though, saying: "It would be a mistake to lose hope. We are paying a high price for our slip-ups and the recent scorelines have been very heavy, but the games themselves haven't been like that.
"Not everything that glitters is gold and we must not allow ourselves to get carried away either in the good moments or the bad. We are optimists and we are already thinking about the game against Levante."
He added: "There's a long way to go. Things are very even at the top, and what we need to do is to try and improve in the next two or three games to regain the confidence that we need."
Levante coach Luis Garcia is also trying to think positively as the Valencia-based outfit look to end their own miserable run of results.
Garcia, who serves the second game of his two-match ban, believes his side need 23 more points from their final 18 games to avoid the drop, and he said: "The important thing is that we don't break down. We need to get to 38 points."
