Injury has ruled out defenders Ross Forsyth, Jonathan Brown and Martyn Corrigan and Albion's resources have been further stretched by the absence of banned pair Scott Buist and Stephen Stirling.
Scott has asked the players at the club to impress him and will utilise the players he has at his disposal at the club against Dunfermline before deciding on whether to bring new bodies in.
He said: "I have a number of trialists ready to come in but it would be unfair to do that when I have not actually seen the signed players at the club.
"The Dunfermline game and training over the next week will give me the chance to decide what players I need to bring in."
Dunfermline include their new signing from Partick Thistle, striker Liam Buchanan, in their squad.
However manager Jim McIntyre has again ruled out the injured Greg Paterson, Jack Ross and Steven Bell.
Goalkeeper Chris Smith is available as the suspension for his sending-off against Montrose in midweek does not come into affect until the Pars' cup tie with Aberdeen.
McIntyre is wary of meeting Stirling so soon after Jocky Scott was appointed as their new manager.
He said: "A new manager often gives a side a lift and I am sure that is what Jocky's arrival will do at Stirling.
"We may have beaten them twice already this season but both games have been tighter than the scorelines would suggest."
