Edin Dzeko completes £27m move to Manchester City

Having agreed a fee with the 2009 Bundesliga champions last Sunday, City finally rubber-stamped the deal at 9:50pm following protracted paperwork, including securing a work permit and international clearance, and fine-tuning of personal terms with the player’s representatives.
Dzeko completed a successful medical in Watford on Wednesday before returning to Germany to await the completion of the transfer.
And with Manchester City finalising the transfer too late for the player to be eligible for Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at Leicester, Dzeko is now likely to make his debut against Wolves at Eastlands next week.
Dzeko said: “It has been a long time that I have been linked with the club, going back to last summer, but Wolfsburg did not want to sell me until today.
“I was always attracted most to joining City and I am pleased to be at such a good club with such a big ambition as Manchester City. They were my first choice and only choice.”
Dzeko insists he can help City land the Premier League title this season after completing what is likely to be the transfer window’s biggest deal.
He said: “They [City] have been playing well this season. I have watched them a lot on television.
“They are playing for first place in the Premier League and that is what I want.
“Everybody speaks about City having lots of money but it is not about that. It is about ambition and I have spoken to coach [Roberto] Mancini and he told me ‘this is the best club for you.' "
