Italy Under-21 2-1 Turkey Under-21: Federico Macheda Brace Hands Ciro Ferrara Debut Win As Azzurrini Coach

Italy defeated Turkey 2-1 in an Under-21 friendly as Azzurrini coach Ciro Ferrara got off to a perfect start courtesy of two goals from Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda.
Turkey got off to a fast start when they hit the post after nine minutes through Emre Colak's effort from distance. However, it was the Azzurrini who took the lead towards the end of the half when Diego Fabbrini set up Macheda for an easy finish.
The Red Devils' striker got his second goal ten minutes into the second-half, taking advantage of some confusion to beat the offside trap and give his side a 2-0 advantage.
The young Turks reduced the deficit on 89 minutes when Ismail made Lorenzo Tonelli pay for a defensive error, but it was too little too late for the side coached by Rasit Cetiner.
Neither Italy nor Turkey qualified for the Under-21 European Championships in Denmark in 2011.
