AMSTERDAM (AP)—Pontus Wernbloom and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored to lead AZ Alkmaar to a 2-0 win over Ajax, condemning the Amsterdam club to its second straight Dutch league defeat Sunday.
Wernbloom scored from a set piece, converting Ragnar Klavan’s 74th-minute pass before captain Stijn Schaars set up Sigthorsson for the second, three minutes later. In the 88th minute, Ajax defender Andre Ooijer was sent off for a foul on Graziano Pelle.
Ajax lost 1-0 to ADO The Hague last week.
Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven returned to the top of the Dutch league with a 4-2 win over Excelsior Rotterdam.
Defending champion FC Twente fell to its first loss of the season, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat at NAC Breda Saturday.
PSV leads the standings with 33 points, two more than Twente.
