BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—The Argentine Football Association is considering postponing this weekend’s matches following the death Wednesday of former president Nestor Kirchner.
AFA president Julio Grondona, speaking in a radio interview from Zurich, said games could be suspended. AFA officials were to meet later Wednesday to make a decision about the weekend schedule.
Kirchner, the husband of current Argentina President Cristina Fernandez, died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. He was a likely candidate in next year’s presidential elections.
