LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP)—The Court of Arbitration for Sport has temporarily lifted a suspension imposed on Carlos Queiroz, clearing the former Portugal coach to work before the outcome of his appeal in an anti-doping case.

The court says it granted Queiroz’s request to freeze a six-month ban imposed by Portugal’s anti-doping agency, which ruled this month that he disrupted tests being conducted on his World Cup squad in May before they traveled to South Africa.

The suspension prevented him from working in Portugal but FIFA did not extend it worldwide.

Portugal’s football federation also gave Queiroz a one-month ban for misconduct, then fired him following poor results.

CAS says Queiroz’s appeal could be heard in mid-November.
