FIFA reject French call-up bid

FIFA have rejected a request from France to call up a new goalkeeper after Cedric Carrasso suffered a thigh muscle injury in training on Monday.
Les Bleus had hoped to draft in Stephane Ruffier as a replacement and the Monaco goalkeeper was waiting to find out whether he could be called upon. However, FIFA's bureau of the organising committee have decided not to grant dispensation for Carrasso to be replaced.
A statement from FIFA read: "The request was rejected by the bureau as they considered the situation not to be a case of force majeure, as outlined in Article 26.4 of the Regulations of the 2010 FIFA World Cup."
