Stalemate at Stark`s
Posted Wednesday, April 28, 2010 by PA
Raith and Queen of the South earned a point apiece as their dour end-of-season encounter finished goalless.
Johnny Russell had two early opportunities to put the hosts ahead. First his rasping 18-yard drive hit the bar and then he volleyed wide from a similar position soon after.
Neither side could get a foothold in the game, though Derek Holmes blazed over for Queen of the South, while Paul Burns should have also done better with his effort from the edge of the area.
William McLaren was denied by Raith keeper David McGurn as the game entered its final 10 minutes, but neither side could find the elusive breakthrough and it ended in stalemate.
