Raith Rovers v Airdrie - McGlynn ponders options
Posted Monday, April 26, 2010 by PA
Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn is relieved his side are safe before facing Airdrie as he continues to have selection worries.
On-loan Hearts defender David Armstrong's was sent off on Saturday and misses out through suspension alongside long-term injured defenders Craig Wilson and Mark Campbell.
Thierry Gathuessi, Laurie Ellis, Graeme Weir and Jamie Mole are doubts because of knocks.
McGlynn said: "Being safe means that the pressure is off and I am delighted that this game is not as big as it could been.
"Hopefully the players' legs may just not be as tired now as they could have been and we can go out and play without fear."
Bobby Donnelly and Alan Trouten are doubtful for Aidrie.
Defender Donnelly is struggling with a combination of a calf and ankle injuries and midfielder Alan Trouten expected to miss out again due to a hamstring problem.
The rock-bottom Diamonds remain a point behind Ayr and manager Kenny Black is looking to lift his men after David Weatherston's injury-time goal at Queen of the South cost them the two points that would have moved them up a place.
Black said: "We were all down after that because we had matters in our own hands for the first time in weeks.
"A win would be great as it would mean that Ayr have to win on Wednesday night against Ross County to climb above us again."
