Double injury blow for the Jags

Partick striker Liam Buchanan has joined defender Alan Archibald in the treatment room on the eve of the club`s clash against Ayr.

The Firhill men are however boosted by the return of fit-again defender Martyn Corrigan and frontman Martin Grehan after shaking off a training ground knock.

The Jags are determined to finish the season on a high, and stand-in assistant manager Ian Maxwell said: "Ian McCall and I both believe that how you end a season can dictate how you start the next one.

"We have three games left and plan to go out on a high by winning them all to have everyone flying again after the summer.

"Ayr will be determined opponents but we want to get a feel-good factor around Firhill."

Ayr manager Brian Reid has a defensive dilemma ahead of the encounter.

The Honest Men will be missing central defender Martyn Campbell through suspension while centre-back Andy Aitken and full-back Rocky Visconte are injured.

Yet there is some good news for Reid with both Willie Easton and on-loan Kilmarnock frontman Danny MacKay available after injury.

Ayr were disappointing last Saturday when they gave a very flat performance in going down to Dunfermline and Reid has been encouraging better from his players in training this week.

He said, "It was very low key last Saturday and we need a big improvement this time out. We have been working with the players all week to lift their spirits and get going again."
