Duncan returns for Morton trip

Posted Tuesday, April 06, 2010 by PA

Morton will be without the injured pair Kevin McKinlay and Jim McAlister for the visit of league leaders Inverness..

Full-back McKinlay injured a knee in last Tuesday night's match with Ayr and is unlikely to feature again this season, while winger McAlister damaged a foot against Queen of the South on Saturday.

The Greenock men will be hoping to stop Caley completing a clean sweep of victories over them this season and after rising to seventh place in the table manager James Grady is determined to stay away from the relegation zone.

Grady said: "There is plenty of spirit in out team and we need to show that against a strong Inverness side."

Terry Butcher's Inverness welcome back midfielder Russell Duncan from suspension as they look to make it seventeen games without defeat.

A win at Cappielow Park would extend Caley Thistle`s lead over Dundee to seven points, but after watching his side need an injury-time goal to see off Raith Rovers at the weekend, assistant manager Maurice Malpas is taking nothing for granted.

"We won 3-0 at Greenock earlier in the season but they ran us very close at our place last month," said Malpas.

"Morton have picked up good results recently and they want points just as much as we do.

"A win is crucial and whilst it was great to get a late winner on Saturday I am not sure if my heart could take that in our last five games."
