Veteran set for summer switch.
According to reports in Italy, AC Milan have sealed the summer signing of Chievo defender Mario Yepes.
Milan have been linked with a host of defenders this season with Palermo’s Simon Kjaer said to be at the top of their wish list, but have instead snapped up Yepes on what is said to be a two-year deal worth a reported €900,000 per-season.
The veteran defender, 34, who joined Chievo in 2008 following a number of successful seasons in France with Nantes and Paris Saint-Germain, has enjoyed somewhat of an Indian summer in Verona.
With his current deal set to expire this summer, La Gazzetta Dello Sport report that Milan completed the deal today and Yepes will join up with his new team-mates following this summer’s World Cup.
Reports also suggest that the move will see the Rossoneri offload the likes of Kakha Kaladze, who has fallen out with the club on a number of occasions this season, as well as Massimo Oddo and Giuseppe Favalli.
It may also be possible that the move will affect Milan's American defender Oguchi Onyewu, who has been injured, but is reported to be ready to return to the field soon.
