I'd love to beat Kop Record

WAYNE ROONEY last night revealed the real driving force behind his incredible season.

He wants a place in history and the chance to ease past Liverpool in the record books.

Rooney's 30 goals and breathtaking displays have left Manchester United in pole position to land three trophies.

Another Champions League remains the Holy Grail for some at Old Trafford - but the Premier League has Rooney really licking his lips.

No team has ever won four titles on the bounce and victory this season would edge United ahead of fierce rivals Liverpool, with 19.

Rooney admitted: "I've always felt the league is the most important one to win, but especially this year.

"If we do that it will be four on the run, which no one has done before.

"And we would go above Liverpool's number of titles so to do it this year would be a big, big moment for everyone at the club."

Rooney had a message to those who reckon United's casualty list could wreck the Carling Cup-winners' Treble dreams.

The striker insisted: "We've had some injuries but those who have come in have done good jobs.

"We definitely have a strong enough squad."
