Qatar League Wrap: Al Sadd And Al Gharafa Neck And Neck

Al Sadd 5-1 Al-Shamal

Al Sadd continue their march towards this season’s title after they thrashed Al–Shamal 5-1 at home.

Leandro Da Silva opened the scoring well inside the 15 minute mark, while both Khalfan Khalfan and Majed Mohammed added braces on either side of the half.

Al-Shamal’s, Bahraini player, Mahmood Abdul Rahman scored in the 86th minute in what proved to be the consolation goal.

Al Sadd need to continue on their three game winning streak and avoid any slip-ups that Al Gharafa will be looking to take advantage of.

Al Sailiya 0 – 1 Al Gharafa :

Hot on al Sadd’s heels are Al Gharafa who disposed of Al Sailiya with the lone strike of Fahad Al Shammary in the 86th minute. Al Gharafa had to play with ten men after Bilal Mohammed was shown the red card in the 72nd minute and sent off.

This win could prove priceless as Al Gharafa is now in joint first place on 36 points with Al Sadd.

Al Arabi 1 – 2 Al Khuraitiat

Al Arabi lost any hope of clinching the title after they slipped up to visitors Al Khuraitiat.

Despite going up to an Ivraldo De Perreira penalty in the 40th minute, they conceded two quick goals in the second half thanks to Jarallah Al Maree and Ala’a Abdul Zahra who scored in the 69th and 77th minutes respectively.

This leaves them in third place nine points off the pace set by Al Sadd and Al Gharafa.
