Jaguares Squander Lead, Settle For Draw With Tigres

Tigres fell behind 2-0 but scored two quick goals and finished their match in Chiapas with a 2-2 draw.

Jackson Martinez scored twice for Jaguares but it was former Chiapas player Itamar Batista who did the damage for the visitors. Batista helped Tigres overcome a 2-0 deficit by scoring the equalizer in the 58th minute.

Martinez gave Jaguares a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Yasser Corona fed Martinez from the left flank, and Martinez rifled a left-footed shot into the back of the net to give the hosts the lead.

Early in the second half, Martinez doubled the advantage. Martinez got the ball inside the penalty area but held off a pair of defenders. He slipped the ball past Cirilo Saucedo and into the back of Tigres' goal as Jaguares had a seemingly commanding 2-0 lead.

But Tigres responded. In the 52nd minute, Lucas Lobos and David Toledo combined on a corner kick. Lobos left the ball to Toledo on a shot corner and the two played the ball to one another. Toledo wound up with the ball and curled a ball to the front of the goal, apparently a cross. But the ball instead bounced directly into the goal as nobody was able to get to it.

Another corner kick led to Tigres' second goal. On a Tigres corner kick, the cross was knocked into the air and Batista jumped a slammed the header into the back of the net.

The goal stunned Jaguares, who were unable to close out a home victory once again.
